Tam An Village School

Turn the Page is partnered with Tam An Village School in Vietnam. Tam An Village is a small rural community Dong Nai province, 100km east of Vietnam’s largest city Ho Chi Minh. It is a primary school for kindergarten and first grade children whose families can not afford to send them to school in the nearby city. All fundraising efforts by Turn the Page is going towards creating a new building for the students and teachers.

Tam An Village School has 150 students and 5 teachers. Students attend school for 5 hours each day; they are either in a morning class or an afternoon class with 70 to 80 other students. While at school, students are fed one meal.

The school currently has 2 rooms each measuring 5 metres by 5 metres. They are both furnished with adequate tables, chairs, and blackboards. However, there is no restroom for students or teachers to use.

Turn the Page is committed to raising $20,000 CAD for Tam An Village School in order to build two more rooms with restrooms. By building these two buildings, we create a more comfortable learning environment for students and increase the capacity of the school to serve its community. The land where the new buildings are to be built is available and will be donated. As well, with the addition of new rooms, the government will be able to provide 3 to 5 more teachers.

Once raised, the sum will be donated to the school. A trustworthy nearby pagoda will be monitoring and providing reports on the progress of the building of the new rooms and also how the money is being spent.
